Verdi Vents Restaurant, Maserof. Telephone 00 34 96597 3413. Once you are seated with jugs of red wine already placed on the table, you are presented with bowls of a potato dish, mixed with chives, lavender and herbs. also large loaves of freshly baked bread. Next two large serving bowls of a creamy white soup, that had us all guessing what the ingredients were, it was delicious and we were told that it was lettuce!

A short break and plates of oil covered tomatoes and mozzarella cheese were placed on the table. Main course was a choice of lamb on the bone with a moscatel sauce or venison in a red wine sauce. Nine of us chose the venison and it was fantastic. The lamb was also excellent. The sound of guitars filled the air and the popular brothers, from the area, sang and played our favourite Spanish melodies.

The whole day was a wonderful experience,a delightful meal and one that we shall remember for the rest of our lives, or at least a until the next time.

A couple of corrections.According to their card, the restaurant is called Verd i Vent. Excellent description, but I would add that the potatoes were flavoured with lavender

I would agree with everything Dawn has said about the great food. I would also add that it is fantastic value for money. The old farmhouse has lots of nooks and crannies so the atmosphere is great. There is only one ladies and gents loo so the thoughtful owners even leave wine and glasses outside the loos just in case you are thirsty whilst waiting. Another point - you MUST book in advance, it's full every day. It's a regular haunt and well worth the trip. On the way home if your driver permits, a stop in the Alleyluia (SP?) bar in Jalon is worth it either to end lunch or start the evening!

I'm just completely jealous of all you ex-pats with your clear blue skies and atmospheric luncheon adventures. Wish we were there too!

Verd i Vent is a special place, may be one of the best restaurant of Costa Blanca if you know that the price of the menu is only 15euros with very good wine free, and you can eat specialities from the first tapa to the "postre". Artist place, paintings, guitarists, poemes....A place difficult to meet, because no publicity and no sign...To discover...
